Belgium based Europlasma, a world leader in low pressure plasma technology, and its Chinese partner Hydrowarriors are proud to present during Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2015 Europlasma’s innovative nanocoating solutions to waterproof electronic devices under the Nanofics brand name.
Nanofics refers to nanoscaled functionalization into the core of complex shaped materials and products. It is Europlasma’s patented and patent pending nanocoating technology platform, first applied on industrial scale in 1996.
Manufacturers of electronic devices typically use the Nanofics coating solutions to reach the highest levels of water repellency and/or oil repellency. Typical products that have the Nanofics technology incorporated are smartphones, smartwatches, earbuds, hearing aids, headsets, headphones, bluetooth speakers and tablets.

Europlasma works with each individual customer to find the optimal nanocoating solution for his or her device, reaching ingress protection levels from IPX2 to IPX7. Like no other Europlasma is able to implement this solution on industrial scale.
For mass production of smartphones Europlasma customers typically use the CD1000 Nanofics, a plasma coating machine which can handle up to 4.000.000 devices per year.

During MWC Shanghai, Europlasma will showcase a smaller CD500 Nanofics, a plasma coating machine that can handle up to 600.000 smartphones per year.

Other manufacturers coat electronic subassemblies, or the whole device to achieve water ingress protection from levels IPX2 to IPX7.
