Cyber security is a top concern for executives in the US and Europe. Executives in Asia, however, stack up their priorities differently, according to July 2015 data.

CNBC, MindMover and Lightspeed GMI surveyed more than 500 business executives in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

April 2015 research by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) found that in the US, cyber threats, including lack of data security was an area of “extreme concern” among 45% of US CEOs.

More than half of US respondents said cyber security was a leading technology priority in the next 12 months, and 41% of executives in Europe said it was a priority for them as well.

For executives in Asia-Pacific, however, cyber security was not the utmost priority-only a quarter of respondents said it was important to them.

But mobile ecommerce, internet of things (IoT), connected devices, mobile application development and cloud technology were all bigger priorities in the region.

The CNBC survey is in line with other data showing widespread concern about security among executives.

Additionally, 21% of CEOs worldwide-including in the US-were concerned about it.
