“Integrated Industry” as India’s model for smart manufacturing

Hannover/New Delhi. India made a big splash as Partner Country at HANNOVER MESSE 2015: more than 400 Indian companies propelled “Make in India” into the spotlight at the world’s leading industrial technology event. Now, WIN (World of Industry) INDIA is gearing up to carry that momentum into New Delhi from 9 to 11 December 2015 at the Pragati Maidan exhibition center.

“Make in India”, which promises to streamline doing business in India and create a globally competitive nation, has generated optimism about manufacturing in India and tallied numerous successes so far in 2015. Foreign direct investment soared 27 percent in the first quarter of the year. Foxconn said it will spend US$5 billion for up to 12 new factories in India by 2020. Ford Motor Corporation opened a 460-acre integrated manufacturing plant in Gujarat. Bosch, General Electric, Panasonic, and Tejas committed to invest in manufacturing clusters in India. Many more companies are considering moving production in-country to better reach India’s 1.25 billion consumers. The World Bank projects India will have the world’s fastest-growing major economy from 2015 to 2017 with average GDP growth of 7.4 percent.

WIN INDIA 2015 combines elements of “Make in India” with HANNOVER MESSE’s lead theme, Integrated Industry, to create a solution-oriented marketplace for smart manufacturing. As Wolfgang Pech, senior vice president at Deutsche Messe, explains it, “WIN INDIA’s four fairs - Industrial Automation INDIA, MDA INDIA, CeMAT INDIA, and Surface Technology INDIA - support ‘Make in India’s’ objectives of modernizing infrastructure and industrial production. Not only do they feature products and services for industrial automation; power transmission and fluid power; intralogistics; and surface treatment, respectively, but they also feature special displays, conferences, training sessions, and matchmaking events that promote industrial transformation and job creation.”

WIN INDIA 2015 features a new Automation Training Zone (ATZ) based on the “Make in India” and “‘Skill India” initiatives. Organized by India’s Automation Industry Association (AIA), the ATZ educates end-users about the latest automation technologies. Two demonstration areas on the WIN INDIA show floor present Integrated Industry in action: the Automation Application Park presents examples of networked manufacturing systems, while the CeMAT Application Park demonstrates a complete supply chain management system.

The WIN Industry Summit comprises a series of educational and networking events. Day one features sessions on government vision and policies organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) as well as the Digital Factory Conference. Day two features sessions on industry manufacturing initiatives organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) plus the CeMAT Forum about supply chain management. Day three features German Engineering Federation (VDMA) discussions about training and skill development and hydraulics in mobile applications as well as the second part of the CeMAT Forum.

WIN INDIA 2015 will host roughly 500 exhibiting companies, including such industry leaders as B&R Automation, Balluff, Beumer Group, Camozzi, Connectwell, Degson Electronics, Epson Robots, Faro, Festo, Gandhi Automation, Hi-Tech Robotic Systemz, Hyundai Forklifts, Jungheinrich, NORD Drivesystems, Pepperl+Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, Siemens, and Wago. China, Germany and Korea will present country pavilions.

WIN INDIA is organized by Hannover Milano Fairs India Pvt Ltd, Deutsche Messe’s subsidiary in India, and belongs to Deutsche Messe’s HANNOVER MESSE Worldwide portfolio, which includes events in Canada, China, Turkey, and the United States. WIN INDIA is endorsed by the Indian government’s Department of Heavy Industry.
